PHEMS presented at THAIS 2026: Advancing AI for the Early Detection of Paediatric Sepsis

In June 2026, Adrián Vizoso and Arnau Valls Esteve from Fundació de Recerca Sant Joan de Déu represented the PHEMS project at the THAIS | Taulí Health Artificial Intelligence Symposium.

During the symposium, they delivered the presentation “Experience in developing an AI model to improve early detection of paediatric sepsis”, showcasing the progress of PHEMS Use Case 2.

The presentation highlighted how the PHEMS project is supporting the development of AI-driven solutions for the early detection of paediatric sepsis through secure and federated health data collaboration. By enabling privacy-preserving data analysis across healthcare institutions, PHEMS contributes to the development and validation of innovative artificial intelligence models while ensuring that sensitive patient data remain protected.

Participation in THAIS 2026 provided an excellent opportunity to share the project’s progress with researchers, clinicians and AI experts, fostering discussion on the role of federated health data spaces in accelerating innovation in paediatric healthcare.
