Ross Stiven Presents on PHEMS and Data Federation at the DataShield Conference

by | Uncategorized

Ross Stiven delivered the closing keynote at the recent DataShield Conference, hosted by the SIB Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics, where he represented both Aridhia and PHEMS.

In his keynote, Ross provided a comprehensive overview of the PHEMS initiative, highlighting its pivotal role in advancing secure, cross-border health data collaboration. His talk covered several key areas:

    • The PHEMS federated network and node.
    • The challenges of data federation.
    • Solutions through federation within a Trusted Research Environment (TRE).
    • Future opportunities for federated collaboration.

You can find a copy of Ross’s presentation slides here.

Ross’s participation underscored Aridhia’s ongoing commitment to building trustworthy, privacy-preserving solutions for health data use. Through its collaboration with PHEMS, Aridhia is helping establish a robust network of European hospitals that can securely share, analyze, and learn from each other’s data – all while maintaining compliance with data protection obligations.

The PHEMS project represents a major step forward in how healthcare institutions can collaborate responsibly, using federated approaches to drive better patient outcomes and advance medical research.

A huge thank you to Ross for sharing his expertise and helping to raise awareness about PHEMS, data federation, and the future of PHDS!
